Gear Info

Drums: I currently do not have any ties with any drum companies but I have been playing a Pearl, Retrospec for the past 4 years. The kit is coverd with a Red Onyx wrap which has a kind of retro appearance. I am using:

  • 24"x18" kick drum
  • 12"x8" rack tom
  • 14"x12" & 16"x14" floor toms on legs
  • 14"x5 1/2" snare drum but I tend to use my DW snare 95% of the time
  • 14"x6 1/2" collecters addition Bell Brass snare which I never leave home without. Although it can be a pain in the ass, as it weighs around 16 kg's (that's about 35 pounds to our overseas friends).

Cymbals: I am lucky enough to have an endorsment with SABIAN cymbals, I am using:

  • 14" AAX hi-hats
  • 18" & 19" AAX Metal crashes
  • 10" Parragon splash
  • 22" Hand Hammered Metal ride with extra large bell
  • 21" AAX crash ride
  • 20" Parragon china

Hardware: I use the retractable double braced Pearl cymbal stands, Pearl Elimenator hi-hat stand, a Tama 1st chair standard round seat (although I am due for a new one after 10 years of touring) and a super heavy duty DW double braced snare stand to hold the intense weight of my DW Bell Brass snare drum.

Pedals: I am currently using a Pearl Elimenator double pedal. I tend to use the flat plastic side of the beaters and i use the blue cams under the chain. I have a second set for good measure.

Sticks: I signed to Promark some years ago and have never changed the model. I use 747B wood tipped Promark drum sticks, they have the even heavy weight all the way through the entire stick with a nice long reach.

Skins: Aquarian, I always use the clear Response II on the kick with a beater patch, usually a clear Response II on the snare and I vary between clear and coated Response II on the toms with just 1ply clear skins on the bottoms.
